Remember, we posted about the hope of the border blockade ending soon,
before Christmas?

Unfortunately it did not work out.

And things are getting worse. We were informed that prices for gas
and other essential supplies are sky rocking and that power cuts now
can easily last more than 13 hours every day…
Plus it is unusually cold in Kathmandu.

Here are some excerpts from our last chat with Volunteer Nepal:

How can we help from the outside?
“To be honest, the best way to help at the moment is with money.
With so many people donating to earthquake funds,
general NOH donations are way down.
Everything from food to gas is more expensive because the scarcity.
I know people sometimes like to donate *things* cash is still the most helpful.”

What about gas and electricity?
“We went for 72 hours without electricity earlier this week,
we couldn’t pump water so had to carry it in buckets, but luckily we didn’t run out.”

You can still buy supplies in Kathmandu? “
Yes, it just costs a lot more. …. just paid 8000rs for a tank of cooking gas….
that would normally be 1400rs.”

In case you do want to help fast and directly, here is the link to the NOH Homepage.

Or donate via Sanctuary for Kids.

Guess what, I just found a “new” one that sounds promising;
mind you, we had that before… Time Magazine
