The things you have to keep in mind before actually booking your volunteering “adventure”:

(3) Vaccinations
Talking about Vaccinations…
these can turn into a “Never Ending Story”, taking several months from your first till your last shot. Plus there might very well be side-effects.
So, see your doctor well before your departure date to talk about a schedule and especially the costs!
Don’t be surprised: Depending on your health-insurance, you might end up having to pay up to 90% of the costs.
In our case our pharmacy-receipts for vaccines came up to more than € 500 each!
Some official charities like the RedCross will of course cover those costs for their employees and volunteers, but for private helpers – like us – those immense additional costs can really be a reason for nor being able to afford the trip! Just keep that in mind before planning the rest!
